About Hylaform® Wrinkle Remover
Hylaform® is an FDA approved dermal filler. This viscoelastic gel (hylan B gel) is made from hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid found in Hylaform® mirrors the function of natural hyaluronic acid that is already located in the human body. Since this purified form of hyaluronic acid mirrors a compound already established in our system, it greatly contributes to the success of Hylaform® as a wrinkle remover.

Typically Hylaform® is used as a wrinkle remover for facial furrows, acne scars, and smile lines.

Smile lines are the little fine lines that appear around the area of the eye and mouth. These are some of the first forms of wrinkles that can appear that demonstrate the aging process. Hyaluronic acid contributes moisture to the skin. During the aging process our body starts to produce less hyaluronic acid, therefore our skin loses moisture as it ages. At the time of treatment, Hylaform® is injected along the line of the wrinkle until correction is achieved. One of the features of Hylaform® that adds to its success as a wrinkle remover is that the results are immediate. After the area is injected, the physician will massage the treated area which results in a smoother finish. Some patients may find that there needs to be a follow up treatment. The results are semi-permanent, resulting in the need for a “top up” treatment every 5 months in order to maintain the desired level of correction.

Since the purified form of hyaluronic acid found in Hylaform® mirrors the natural form, there is no need for allergy testing.
Possible side effects of Hylaform® injections, which are temporary, may include mild redness, itching, swelling and pain. In very rare cases, persistent redness, red spots and bruising may occur.

Patients are recommended to keep an icepack on the area for 15 minutes to reduce possible swelling. You may take arnica (under the tongue) every two hours for the first day or two if any bruising occurs.
