Bride and Groom Makeovers: Pre Wedding Cosmetic Surgery

wedding-cosmetic-surgery(Author: An anonymous bride-to-be)

As a bride-to-be, I spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out how to look my best on my wedding day. I’m trying to diet and take care of my skin, and definitely considering some cosmetic surgery. Liposuction for my love handles or something to relieve the bag under my left eye would be perfect. But before you think I’m a narcissistic woman focused only on her appearance, note that I’m not alone. Record numbers of brides—and even grooms—are choosing to have cosmetic surgery done as their big day approaches. And all of them are doing it for the same reason—to look their very best. Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, says that he’s watched this trend grow over the past few years. “For most couples this is the biggest day in their lives and the attention is focused entirely on them, ” says Dr. Ourian, “it’s not really a surprise that they want to look their absolute best. And don’t forget the photos; the party is only one day but the wedding photos are forever.”

There are a number of different types of cosmetic surgery options for brides and grooms. Here are a few of them:

Injectables and Fillers

These are great for brides in their late 20’s, 30’s or 40’s who don’t need more in depth surgery, but want to get rid of facial lines. Dr. Ourian cautions that the procedure should be done several weeks ahead of time, to allow for any possible bruising and swelling an opportunity to fade. Full results may take a week to be visible, and the bride or groom may need a touchup as well.

Botox may also be used to alleviate sweating. A quick Botox injection will help a nervous couple get through their vows without staining their clothing, and definitely cut back on dry cleaning bills for the day.

Advanced Cosmetic Surgery

Older brides may need some extra help before their weddings. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or full facelifts will help tighten excess skin, fat or muscle. But these are very invasive procedures, and recovery will not be nearly as fast as with a simple injectable or filler. It is advised that patients give themselves at several months to fully recover from the surgery.

Lipo Before “I Do”

Brides and grooms will do just about anything to lose weight for the big day. They will try every diet on the market, and work out till they drop, but all the diet and exercise in the world may not get rid of the last few stubborn spots—love handles, spare tires, or saddlebags. Liposuction can help get rid of these fat deposits in the abdomen, hips, buttocks, back, or neck. For best results, liposuction should be done at least a month ahead of time to allow your body to fully heal.

Body Contouring

A friend decided to undergo bariatric surgery before her wedding and went from 300 pounds to a svelte 145. The problem? Now she has a great deal of excess skin, which is hampering her self esteem. Brides and grooms who undergo this type of surgery may find themselves in the same boat. Body contouring surgery can eliminate the extra skin, and allow the bride to get that sleeveless wedding dress she always wanted, or the groom to show off his newly flat stomach out on the beach. Unlike the rest of these surgeries, however, it is strongly recommended that the patient have the contouring done in stages. At least three operations should be done, with healing time accounted for, and the patient must plan for them accordingly.

Breast Enhancement

This is one of the most popular surgeries for brides. Many women may have wanted to enlarge or even reduce their breast size, and their wedding day gives them the perfect motivation to do so. Naturally, they want to look good, and they want their pictures to show them at their best. Brides who undergo breast enhancement should have it done a several months before the surgery for best results.

Skin Care

I am fortunate to have clear skin, but other bride-to-be’s may not be so lucky. They must be careful with treatments such as facials or microdermabrasion, because they can make acne worse. Microdermabrasion blasts the skin with tiny crystals to remove a layer and get rid of mild acne scars and brown spots, among other skin problems. Unfortunately, this kind of abrasion can stress the skin out, and trigger an eruption of pimples. Laser therapy, on the other hand, may be used eliminate blotches and noticeable blood vessels.

Regardless of the method you choose, remember that your wedding day is fleeting. The effects of your makeover, however, will last for years. Choose wisely, and you’ll have memories for a lifetime.

Best Dermal Fillers

One of the busiest cosmetic Dermatologists in Southern California, Doctor Simon Ourian M.D. discusses the dermal fillers Radiesse, Restylane, Juvéderm and collagen.

April 6, 2009 — Doctor Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, located in the exclusive shopping, restaurant and hotel enclave in Los Angeles, California knows all about dermal fillers. Year after year he is one of the leading injectors of dermal fillers and Botox Cosmetic in the United States. He knows this because the manufacturers tell him so. More than ten years ago Doctor Ourian opened his practice in Beverly Hills devoted exclusively to injectables and other minimally invasive cosmetic treatments.

“There are two types of wrinkles, ” explains Doctor Ourian, “dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles happen when we use our facial muscles to frown or to smile. Crow’s feet are an excellent example of dynamic wrinkles. Botox is the treatment of choice for dynamic wrinkles. A static wrinkle can be seen when the face is at rest. These often occur in the nasolabial folds. The main purpose of dermal fillers is to correct static wrinkles though I find they are an excellent tool for treating acne scars.”

For most people, both men and women, aging is the cause of static wrinkles: as we age there is a natural loss of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. These elements provide structure and volume for the skin. The most common dermal fillers are:

Collagen: Trade names include CosmoDerm, Cosmoplast (human collagen), Zyderm, and Zyplast (bovine collagen). Due to the risk of an allergic reaction, collagen products typically require a skin test prior to treatment. “Collagen was the first dermal filler I worked with”, says Dr. Ourian, “but I think the drawbacks outweigh the benefits.”

Restylane: Manufactured by Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, Restylane is made from hyaluronic acid, one of the structural components of skin noted above. It is considered a semi-permanent filler and will last six to twelve months. Medicis claims that Restylane is the best selling dermal filler in the world.

Juvéderm: Manufactured by Allergan, Inc. (the makers of Botox) Juvéderm is also a gel made from hyaluronic acid. According to Allergan’s website Juvéderm is the ONLY hyaluronic acid (HA) filler FDA approved to last up to 1 year and is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved as being safe and effective for persons of color.

Radiesse: Manufactured by Bioform Medical Inc. Radiesse, formerly known as Radiance, is composed of calcium based microspheres suspended in a water based gel. According to the manufacturer Radiesse stimulates the body to produce new collagen in a process called collagenesis. Bioform has clinical data to support their claim that Radiesse may last more than two years.

“What is the best dermal filler?” asks Dr. Ourian. “The one that, in my medical opinion, is most suitable to meeting my patient’s aesthetic goals. I don’t use a cookie cutter approach; I examine each patient, discuss their needs and goals and make a recommendation based on my ten plus years of experience, it’s a collaborative process.”

Top Restylane Doctor in the United States

An alternative to more invasive cosmetic procedures: Restylane is the world’s best-selling dermal filler. Renowned cosmetic Dermatologist Dr. Simon Ourian M.D. is one of the most experienced Restylane injectors in the country, celebrated for achieving natural looking, rather than “done”, results.

March 19, 2009 — Dr. Simon Ourian’s experience as a pioneer with various non-surgical anti-aging procedures has made his Beverly Hills medical center a new magnet for patients eager to try Restylane.

“I was looking for the top Restylane doctor, ” explains Cheryl, a 44-year-old patient who chose Beverly Hills Restylane Dr. Ourian. “It’s because of him that I have fewer wrinkles. I look fresher.”

Ourian, founder of the Epione Medical Center, says his treatments of Restylane, a dermal filler, are also gaining popularity because “they are a quick boost. It’s an easy filler for your face in areas where you have lost elasticity. Restylane under the eyes is another popular treatment.”

Ourian, a MD and Medical Director of the Epione Medical Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. (the #1 Botox center in Southern California), is among the first cosmetic surgeons to pioneer the use of Restylane, as a result of his experience with Botox, Radiesse, collagen and non-invasive, aesthetic procedures.

“Restylane provides a safe alternative for people who are hesitant to try collagen, “ says Dr. Ourian. “Since the substance naturally occurs in humans, it is the safest filler on the market, and the results, lasting up to eighteen months, are immediate and look very natural.”

Ourian’s patients who want plump lips like Angelina Jolie or the youth of Britney Spears agree. They have seen how Restylane injections under the eyes reduce circles and wrinkles and how they plump lips that have become smaller with age.

Restylane before and after photographs show how these injections take off years. Restylane can be used to remove worry lines, smile lines, lines between the eyebrows and hollows under the eyes. It helps to reduce folds between the nose and the corners of the mouth. Restylane also works to build up the chin.

One of Dr. Ourian’s Los Angeles Restylane patients was astounded with the results.

“I was totally blown away, ” said Claire, 35, of Los Angeles, one of Dr. Ourian’s patients. “My wrinkles started to go away immediately. The lip augmentation was amazing. My lips are a lot fuller. Now I see before and after photos and I am so happy I had Dr. Ourian do this facial work.”

Ourian points out that Restylane cost is less than some other treatments and a fraction of the cost of plastic surgery. Restylane cost ranges vary depending on the area treated and results last up to eighteen months.

Restylane is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that exists in all living organisms. Since the acid is a natural component of connective tissues, including the skin, the skin does not react to the material. Restylane injections not only last longer than collagen, but don’t require allergy skin testing.

Pain during Restylane injections varies and depends of the sensitivity of the patient. The injections may prick a little but normally, no anesthesia is needed for treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injections are relatively painless. For some a lip treatment may be uncomfortable and therefore, a nerve block is normally made.

Temporary Restylane swelling is possible. Rare Restylane side effects include temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness. Most of these effects last for only a couple of weeks. Restylane was launched in 1996. More than 10 million treatments have been completed since then. Before this, only collagen injections made from cow hide had been available.

Ourian won’t promise to make his patients into movie stars, “but if you bring me a photo of yourself five to ten years ago, I think that’s something we can achieve.”

Dr. Ourian’s Epione Medical Corporation, located in Beverly Hills Golden Triangle, is among the most comprehensive and state-of-the-art laser and aesthetic surgery centers. Dr. Ourian has been a pioneer for laser technology and non-invasive aesthetic procedures not only with Restylane and Botox, but also with Juvéderm, Radiesse and Sculptra. These treatments are used for correction or reversal of a variety of conditions such as acne, acne scars, acne scar removal, skin discoloration, lip enhancement, wrinkles, stretch marks, varicose veins, unwanted hair, and tattoos, cellulite, and tens of others. Top Botox Doctor in the United States

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) February 5, 2009 — Botox, the alternative to a surgical facelift and other more expensive cosmetic procedures, has become the top choice for addressing fine facial lines and wrinkles. Botox has been FDA approved in more than 75 countries for more than 20 different indications, and is the most popular physician-administered cosmetic procedure in the US (surgical and non surgical combined) for the past 5 years. Dr. Simon Ourian, M.D., of Epione Medical Corporation in Beverly Hills, California, was at the forefront of the launch of Botox, and after ten years performing Botox injections, is regarded as one of the best Botox Doctors in the country. According to Botox producer, Allergan Inc., Dr. Ourian is the number one provider of this wrinkle busting treatment, performing more Botox injections on a yearly basis, than any other physician in California. Epione is currently among Allergan’s elite Diamond Program (only awarded to the top 1% injectors in the country).

Botox is a relatively simple, 10 minute procedure, consisting of a few tiny injections. No anesthesia is required (a cold pack or anesthetic cream may be used). Using a very thin needle, a physician will administer a tiny injection into multiple sites. Botox side effects are quite minimal. According to many of Ourian’s patients, no pain at all is experienced. “Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite.” Dr.Ourian says. Typically, Botox patients experience temporary bruising at the injection site, but no recuperation time is required. Patients can resume normal activity the same day. After receiving Botox treatment, patients can generally expect a noticeable improvement in the reduction of frown lines within days that may continue to improve during the first week after treatment. With proper dosage and technique, the positive effects of Botox treatment can last up to 4 months. Patients should only need the treatment 3 or 4 times a year, which makes Botox the most effective affordable treatment on the market today.

“Our Botox injection costs are very competitive. We do our best at Epione to keep the prices of Botox as low as possible, in doing so, never compromising the quality of the Botox we offer.” And seemingly the majority of Ourian’s patients agree. “It is quicker than a haircut, less expensive than a dress, and the results are more dramatic than anything else; in 10 minutes.” states long time Epione patient, Patricia J.

Over the years Dr. Ourian has gained the reputation of being an expert in the placement of Botox, which is very technique-dependent in terms of achieving maximum results. Mary (43), a hair stylist from Los Angeles, has received Botox exclusively from Dr. Ourian the past 5 years. “Dr. Ourian is by far the best Botox injector I have ever been to. The precision that goes into each injection is astonishing. Dr. Ourian’s technique is unlike any other, ” says Mary. Mary ads, “after my Botox treatments with Dr. Ourian, I am always flooded with compliments. I get the natural look I desire, each and every time.”

“Individual facial analysis is the key element necessary for consistently good Botox results, ” Says Dr. Ourian. “I usually hand the client a mirror and say, ‘Let’s discuss the issues that bother you.’ In order to achieve the result my patients are looking for, I believe it is important to carefully listen to all their suggestions, questions, and comments. Once I have an understanding of their expectations and goals, I meticulously address the appropriate areas. It is my personal goal, to achieve the desired results for each my patients.”

Dr. Ourian’s popularity and the success of Epione can be attributed to many different factors. Only 100% pure Botox is used at Epione. In addition, Botox used at Epione is the freshest and purest Botox available anywhere. “If at any time my patients are unsatisfied, I insist they return for a free touchup (within 2 weeks of their initial treatment), patient satisfaction is our main goal.”

Prevent Hair Loss with Botox Injections

Botox scalp injectionBeverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2009 — Preliminary findings have shown that Botox injections into the scalp may effectively trigger hair growth. Dr. Simon Ourian, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, has tested and refined the procedure over a period of three years with volunteer patients of the Epione Center, an internationally recognized beauty destination in Beverly Hills, Dr. Ourian is now confident in the effectiveness of the treatment and is preparing to undergo controlled clinical studies in order to verify its efficacy and suitability for general use as a marketable hair growth treatment.

The first thing to understand about baldness is that it is not a medical disorder. It is a condition by which hair follicles under the scalp have shrunk to the point where they no longer create new follicles to replace the old dying follicles. Since each follicle usually regenerates every 2–6 years, baldness is a slow but continual physiological process that results in patches of baldness on the scalp connecting with other patches to form a hairline.

Dr. Ourian notes that finding effective baldness treatment is a personal decision, involving many factors including cost, possible benefits, and convenience. The prospective patient looking for ways to treat baldness has more choices now than at anytime in history. Science currently offers two distinct forms of baldness treatments. There is the prescription medication route, which usually involves Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride (Alopecia), and can be a very cost-effective hair loss remedy.

Rogaine, a solution applied directly to the scalp, slows down hair loss and in some cases can actually grow new hair. Alopecia, on the other hand, does not in most cases grow new hair, but has proved even more effective, especially if detected early, in slowing down and stopping the rate of hair loss. Surgical baldness treatments such as Hair Transplantation, are also a viable option, yet are naturally more expensive than Botox injections or prescription medications. Follicular Micro-Grafting transplants healthy follicles, 1–4 hairs at a time, to an area in need of hair growth. Consequently, producing a look that appears natural is often quite difficult for physicians to achieve.

Sighting studies conducted by Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox, indicating that Botox could be used effectively to relieve migraines, Dr. Ourian’s hair growth discovery originally manifested with treating his own mother for debilitating headaches, a side effect of chemotherapy treatments along with more visible hair loss. Dr. Ourian, an Allergan Diamond Partner, had experienced first-hand the appreciation of patients relieved from the agony of years of suffering from migraine headaches by virtue of Botox scalp injections. Hoping to bring that same relief to his mother, Dr. Ourian injected her scalp with Botox. Not only did her headaches diminish but her follicles were re-growing in the areas surrounding the injections.

“Of course, I was happily surprised by the result, ” said Dr. Ourian, “so I decided to share this discovery with several of my regular patients. Because hair loss is a significant source of insecurity for many people, both men and women, there was no shortage of volunteers with thinning hair.” The results for many were astonishing, and for some, a single session yielded dramatic results.

Typical side effects of the scalp treatments were those normally associated with Botox injections (temporary swelling, pain, bruising, etc). In an effort to increase the efficacy of the treatments, Dr. Ourian added to the injections a cocktail of vitamins generally known to stimulate hair growth which showed improvements in the tissue environment surrounding the hair follicles by reducing scalp tension and improving blood flow. Despite the positive results, Dr. Ourian is quick to state that his findings are anecdotal and that proper clinical trials still need to be done.

Dr. Ourian’s Epione Medical Corporation, located in Beverly Hills Golden Triangle, is among the most comprehensive and state-of-the-art laser and aesthetic surgery centers. Dr. Ourian has been a pioneer for laser technology and non-invasive aesthetic procedures such as Botox, Restylane, Radiance and Sculptra. The Latest in Fillers this Summer!

Perlane, the Latest filler from Europe

Perlane, part of the Restylane family, was approved by the FDA in May 2007 and has just come on the market. At Epione we are pleased to be among the first offices to make Perlane available to its patients. The difference between Restylane and Perlane is the hyaluronic acid gel particles in Perlane are larger than those found in Restylane. This means that you will get even better contouring and added volume for those deeper facial wrinkles and folds and lips. Perlane treatments should last about six months. Continue reading
