Perlane® Facial Injections are primarily used to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. An example of this would be the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Alternative to Perlane® treatment could be Radiesse®, Juvéderm® or Restylane® Injections.

Perlane® and Restylane are excellent treatment options for: wrinkle correction, lip enhancement, smile lines, correcting any thin superficial lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead. Perlane® Facial Injections are suitable for any forms of deep folds, shaping facial contours (such as cheeks and chin correcting), and volume augmentation of the lips.

Perlane® is injected into the facial skin with an ultra-fine needle. It plumps the facial skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds. Perlane®’s water-loving nature attracts and binds water molecules to help maintain volume. Perlane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane® is a crystal clear gel that is chemically cross-linked to delay breakdown by facial skin enzymes.

Perlane® Facial Injections are proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that the effects generally last about six months. Perlane® gradually disappears from the body without a trace.

Perlane® is non-animal based and free from animal protein. Typically, allergy pre-testing is not necessary. The side effects reported tend to be mild and most go away within seven days. Perlane® Facial Injections have been used safely since 2000 worldwide.

Immediately after a Perlane® Facial Injection treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness or an itching sensation at the treated area. This is only normal response to the injection and the inconvenience is temporary, and generally goes away in a day or two.

It is important for patients to avoid using St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen prior to treatment. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your physician who may consider prescribing a medication to minimize recurrence.

We recommend that patients keep an icepack on the treated area for 15 minutes to reduce possible swelling. You may take arnica (under the tongue) every two hours for the first day or two if any bruising occurs.
