For those who suffer from them, migraine headaches can be excruciating and debilitating. When a migraine occurs a combination of blood vessels enlarge and the nerve fibers that coil around them release a mixture of chemicals. The response of the sympathetic nervous system leads to a cascading of additional symptoms in the intestines causing vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. How long do the results last? “It’s not unusual for a patient to be migraine free for three to six months after each Botox treatment,” replies Doctor Ourian. “I’ve found, as with other Botox treatments, that the effects may be cumulative. As the muscles become progressively weaker fewer injections may be necessary to achieve the same results or treatments may be scheduled further apart.”
“As my patients can attest, Botox treatments for migraines are nothing short of life altering.
